Part 4: Receiving the Gifts

• When you see Father stand up all 3 servers are to follow the priest down to receive the gifts. There are 3 gifts: the chest full of money, the ciborium full of unconsecrated hosts, and the flagon full of unconsecrated wine.
• Server 1 stands on the left side of the priest. Father will hand Server 1 the chest full of money. When Father begins returning to the altar Server 1 goes towards the ambo and places the chest in between the two candles by genuflecting. You should set the chest down by genuflecting, not by bending over and pointing your butt towards the congregation. Server 1 then goes in front of the altar, bows and returns to his seat
• The Captain is standing to the immediate right of the priest and Server 2 is standing to the immediate right of the Captain. All 3 Servers should be standing on the 1^st sanctuary step. Father will hand the ciborium either directly to Server 2 or to the Captain, who is then to immediately pass it down to Server 2. The priest will then hand the Captain the flagon.
• In order for the next stage of the mass to go smoothly it is imperative that Server 1 has the chest, the Captain has the flagon and Server 2 has the ciborium!
• No server should begin heading back up the sanctuary steps towards the altar until they see Father turn and begin to return to the altar.
